Off to Vegas!

If Sin City doesn't take a toll on me, I plan to be checking in with my friendly bloggers periodically over my 4 day stay in the desert.

The ACM Awards are going against the "American Idol" finals on Tuesday night.
Go Taylor!
Which show will you be watching?
I have no choice. I'll be backstage covering two past "Idol" winners as they invade the Country world. One belongs. One has me asking "huh?".
Should be a wild show. Actually, both should be wild shows. I Wish I had TiVo in my hotel room

What am I looking forward to most in Vegas?
I'm just hoping to rub elbows with Craig Ferguson. I love that guy!
Here's a less than interesting tale....
For years I was under the assumption that I was of Scottish decent (just in case you don't know-Craig is from Scotland). In 1994 I finally got a chance to go Scotland to trace to my family "roots".
It didn't take long for me discover that I have absolutely no connection to any Scottish Clan.
From what I've been able to discover, Warrens were rabbit farmers in a colony once belonging to France.
I refuse to give up. My brother is a die-hard geneologist and swears he will find a Scotland branch to our family tree somewhere.
But I digress.

The ACM's have a history of blending Hollywood and Nashville. I like that blend, as long as it doesn't take the focus AWAY from Country Music.
It's a fine line.
At times it seems the brain-trust of the Country industry spends more time trying bring other audiences to the genre instead of catering to the loyal Country audience that is already there - and WILL be there, unless the music spreads itself to thin.
Growth is great. But growth should come from healthy maturation of an existing entity, not the growth of a cancerous absess that will eventually eat the very host it's living off of.

I'm stopping myself before I go off on a rant.

Wow, look at me. I digressed again.

Back to the original question - what are you going to watch? The ACM's? or "Idol"?

I can't promise a grand recap of Taylor or Katherine's run on our next show. But I do promise an entertaining behind the scenes view of the ACMs. It's going to fun time in Vegas.
I'll do my best to keep you updated on the events in Nevada until our ACM show airs.
Check out GACTV.com for airdates and times.

Also, check out countrymusicacrossamerica.com for your chance to help co-host a segment of our show with me in Nashville.

Thanks for reading!

I'll be taping both shows (in addition to the ACM pre-show on GAC), even though I haven't been too excited with the remaining contestants since Chris left. The plan right now is to actively watch the pre-show and then AI until 9 EST. Then I'll watch the rest of the ACM's, and when it's over, I'll rewind and watch the first hour.

Hi Storme:
I've got to be honest,I'll be watching neither show, idol or the awards.

I've lost faith in alot of the awards show.I got mad at the CMA Awards for not giving Loretta Lynn even one nomination, that I have refused to watch them since. And,while the ACM's did let Loretta sing a few years ago(I did watch that year),I felt the ACM also should have nominated Loretta at least once. So,the only way I'll watch the CMA's & ACM's again is either if Loretta is on as a performer or a presenter,or if she's nominated for at least one award.

So,I'll watch GAC instead. You all are great.

Thanks Storme for giving me this oppertuinty.

Behave yourself in Vegas!! Just kidding. I will be watching and taping the ACM's, starting with the Pre-Show. (Get me some interviews Storme.) I will periodically check in with the Idols. Hope Taylor wins, just so disappointed that Elliot and Chris is gone. That would of been an awesome finale with the two of them. Bahamas, Key West, now Vegas....where are you off to next? Have a wonderful time!!
